Our History
1913
I. Janvey & Sons, Inc. was founded by Isaac Janvey as a bicycle shop in the Village of Hempstead.
1932
Philip Janvey expanded the business via the sale of maintenance cleaning supplies.
1937
Philip was joined by Abraham Janvey and the two expanded the business into a store, office, and warehouse.
1949
Philip and Abraham moved to our current location and began expanding the operation to meet the demands of their flourishing business.
1974
Bruce Janvey joined the business.
1989
Bruce Janvey acquires all of the adjacent property to form what is now our current operation.
Today
I. Janvey & Sons, Inc. has a work force of 30 employees, a 35,000sqft. warehouse, and 12 vehicles available for distribution.
I. Janvey & Sons, Inc. currently covers a geographic area that includes – Nassau, Suffolk, all 5 boroughs of New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Orange counties. The company is recognized nationally as one of the largest independent, single location distributors in the USA. The company is led today by our President/CEO and third generation of the Janvey family, Bruce H. Janvey.
